TECHNOLOGY : SHIFT + CONTROL V

There is nothing as remarkable, as months of research and development being foiled, literally (and maybe figuratively) by a single button click.

Amidst the furore, of file sharing across P2P networks, SunnComm Technologies Inc. revealed it 's MediaMax CD-3 technology.
Unlike past CD-protection schemes, MediaMax promises more flexibility. Music buyers can play protected CDs on computers and even burn copies onto blank CDs or e-mail trial copies to friends. But songs are coded so they can't be played if circulated widely over file-sharing networks.
Fool-proof, you ask? Well, not exactly. It took three days, three whole days, for Alex Halderman, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in computer security at Princeton, to figure out that the "shift" key disables the Windows "autorun" function needed to activate the protection.

SunnComm president Bill Whitmore has very "shiftily" said "Why would you want to steal it?"
