PERSONAL : United we stand, divided we fall

When I was a kid, I used to dream about, how great it would've been if India and Pakistan had not been partitioned. How great the two countries would've stood, how formidable they would have been. How united, no team would be able to beat them down.
Obviously, none of these dreams were motivated by socio-economic or political thoughts; they were simply ignited by that common fire that draws the two countries together - Cricket.
So when, this morning, Imran Khan suggested that India and Pakistan should resume cricketing ties and should form a India-Pakistan-XI to challenge the best in the world (Australia), I took a walk down memory lane.
Those dreams have since then given way to cynicism, but somewhere in the corners of the mind, in the crevices of the memory, the "Dream Team" still remains. The Dream Team was a vision back in the late 80s - early 90s, so here they are, without much ado.

Circa 1988-1992

Sunil Gavaskar
Saeed Anwar
Sachin Tendulkar
Mohammed Azharuddin
Javed Miandad
Dilip Vengsarkar
Inzamam-ul-Haq
Kapil Dev
Imran Khan
Moin Khan
Wasim Akram
Waqar Younis
Anil Kumble
Mushtaq Ahmed

I think I'll come up with the new dream team circa 2003 in the new post. Should be a formidable one, in any case.

UNRELATED, QUOTE OF THE DAY : "Do you expect all Congress chief ministers to resign if the CBI charge-sheets them?" he [Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi] asked reporters in Raipur.
Ankh: Now, let me see? Yes?
